Prof Dilly's Bio
Dr. Geoff Dilly grew up in New Jersey, and was always a fan of marine biology. He followed this interest out to California to study at UC Santa Cruz (go Banana Slugs!). After working at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute for a couple years after college, he attended Harvard for graduate school, studying deep sea physiology at hydrothermal vents. Following 6 cold winters in Boston, he returned to sunny California to do a postdoctoral research fellowship at UC Santa Barbara, working on ocean acidification and the physiology of urchins and mussels. He joined the Biology faculty at CSU Channel Islands in 2014 and currently researches mussel stress response, long term ecological monitoring of the channel islands, and marine debris effects.
In his off-time he enjoys running (he did the NYC Marathon last fall) and playing with his Husky puppy - Kodiak.
His favorite marine creature is the mantis shrimp, which you can learn more about here!
